Lynn Mccafferty

Sport: Handball

Lynn McCafferty Lynn started playing handball at the age of 10 with the Tryst '77 Handball Club at the Tryst Sports Centre in her home town of Cumbernauld.

It was evident early on that she was feisty, fearless, and ferociously talented, rapidly progressing to the senior women's team and making her debut at the age of 15 in the British League.

Her first GB selection was for the European Youth Olympics held in Bath in 1995, where she captained the squad.

The London 2012 Olympic Games offered her the opportunity to represent her country on the world's greatest sporting stage.

Lynn's talent and determination saw her identified as an inspirational leader and captain of the team, so when Lynn walked out into the Handball arena at London's Olympics Park it was one of the proudest moments of her life.

Lynn uses such 'world class' experiences to inspire the next generation of young athletes to follow in her foot steps by working with local schools, clubs and sports programmes.
